Ludlow Talc Mining Operation
For many years Ludlow, Vt. has been home to a talc mining operation. Originally started as an underground operation, the company moved to open pit mining due to safety concerns. Today, Markowski Excavating now maintains and operates the pit, transporting the different talc’s from the pit down to a processing plant where it is crushed even further to develop a marketable product.
Markowski Operates several pieces of equipment which include:
- 4 Caterpillar 773 (60 ton) Haul Trucks
- 2 Caterpillar 365 Excavators
- 2 Caterpillar D8 Dozers
- 1 Caterpillar 16G Grader
In addition, all Markowski Excavating employees are trained in a Part 46 and Part 48 MSHA class in order to work at this mine. Safety is never compromised on any jobsite, and all employees at this operation go through daily safety topics and training throughout the summer campaign.
